Eleventh-Hour-Laborer Scholarship
Jesus does not penalize anyone for coming late to the practice of his truth as long as they are willing to labor and love with all their heart, mind, and strength. He welcomes them and pays them a full day’s wage.
The Eleventh-hour-Laborer Scholarship rallies support to men and women who have struggled with drug or alcohol addiction, perhaps faced legal convictions, and are now seeking a new life and want Jesus Christ to be in that new life. Such individuals often face immediate barriers to steady employment.
Employers who want to help often see the risk as too great when considering hiring someone who has not proven reliable, wise, or capable in the past. Ephraim Recovery seeks to partner with employers motivated to follow Jesus’ commandment to help those in need by taking the financial risk away.
Ephraim Recovery will reimburse employers expenses for complete wages for six weeks and half wages for an additional four weeks if they are willing to hire an individual in the Eleventh-hour-laborer Scholarship program. They will be regular employees, on payroll, and subject to normal expectations. If they do not meet regular standards of employment after proper mentorship, coaching and training they should be let go. The hope is that after 10 weeks employers have both lifted a brother or sister in need and gained a valuable employee.
Eleventh-hour-laborers are required to receive a recommendation by their own local church leader/bishop/minister, attend church weekly, and attend a local drug/alcohol recovery group weekly.Scholarship recipients who who meet expectations are eligible to receive help paying court or probation fees up to $750.
Ephraim Recovery does not provide direct addiction recovery services but will coordinate with all parties—the Eleventh-hour-laborer, the employer, religious leader, and addiction recovery group—requiring each to submit regular feedback and evaluation.
